Rob Adamson
Since growing up in the goldfields north of Kalgoorlie in central Western Australia, and funding his university education working in underground mines, Rob’s career has been in natural resources.
Rob has worked for the past twenty years in senior investment and advisory roles, and leads Australia’s largest resources focused investment and advisory team. The team is recognised for having outstanding commercial and technical skills and delivering quality advice, execution, and superior investment returns for their clients.
As with many of the team members, Rob’s experience is global having also lived and worked in South Africa and the USA. In addition to his extensive local knowledge of the resources sector he has worked on assignments throughout Africa, South America, the US, Canada and Asia, and has an extensive global network of friends and contacts. Being a bit of “gold bug,” Rob has been instrumental in nurturing several gold development projects in both new as well as abandoned goldfields, extracting value where others failed to see opportunity.

Stephen Weir
At RFC I work with a committed team of resource industry finance professionals who time and time again are able to demonstrate their ability to provide a finance solution for the client whether they are a multinational oil company or an entrepreneurial junior explorer. This consistent performance has led to long standing and profitable relationships with our clients which is the thing that gets me to work with a spring in my step each day.
Steve’s advisory roles with RFC over the past ten years have included private and public equity capital raisings (AIM and ASX), trade sale and off market acquisitions, company restructuring, project valuations and public markets M&A in the resource and allied sectors.
Steve’s career includes over 25 years professional experience in M&A advisory, project finance and company management, focused on mining, energy, heavy engineering construction and industrial businesses and has established a diverse advisory client network in these sectors based on his sound commercial judgement. He enjoys applying his corporate finance skills to practical situations to achieve commercial objectives for his clients and leads RFC’s industrial business sector grouping and has completed many non-core business disposals for a an Australian multinational conglomerate as well as private company divestments in the waste, industrial and mining services sectors.

Stuart Laing
I love the dynamic nature of the resources finance sector. There is always a need to find, study and develop new resource projects, creating constant opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors. Treasure hunting for opportunities, sifting reality from perceptions, match making these opportunities with investors and guiding clients while deals are completed is always interesting and challenging. I am fortunate to be able to do this as part of the RFC team, whose collective knowledge, expertise and global relationships in the resource finance industry is unmatched.
Iron ore, gold, mineral sands, mineral processing technologies, Asian investors, equity raisings and listings (AIM & ASX).
Stuart has over 19 years experience in the corporate finance, stockbroking and mining industries. This includes the last 11 years as a key member of the RFC corporate finance advisory team where Stuart has successfully led and provided insightful advice on a broad range of corporate advisory assignments from listings and capital raisings to asset sales, the attraction of strategic partners and acquisition advisory work. The foundations of Stuart’s resource finance expertise come from his previous roles as an investment analyst and finance executive for over 6 years within the HSBC Group in Australia and three years working in commercial roles on site for BHP at their Pilbara iron ore operations. To add to his skill set, Stuart is also close to completing a Bachelor of Engineering degree (in Mineral Processing) from the University of Western Australia, complementing his previously completed Commerce degree (with first class honours in finance).

Nathan Forsyth
I vividly remember the moment I decided I wanted to work in the mining industry. It was a spur of the moment decision to enrol in mining engineering instead of another university course I had previously planned to do. I had no previous exposure to the mining industry but thought mining sounded interesting. It was one of the best decisions I have made. I love identifying companies which have excellent prospects which are yet to be recognised by the broader market and working together with these companies to find and implement clever solutions which assist realise the value of their projects.

Nathan joined RFC in 2007 and has been involved in a variety of advisory roles including strategic reviews, mergers, acquisitions, divestments and capital raisings. At BHP Billiton he worked in a range of operating, commercial and project roles within the coal mining business.

Andrew Thomson
A childhood full of outback travelling spurred my initial interest in the natural resources sector, mining in particular. However when not at work I can often be found wearing myself out via one form of exercise or the other, or following my keen interest in music either as a listener or playing my guitar. I am a passionate supporter of AFL club the Adelaide Crows and enjoy attending live games.

Andrew has 13 years professional experience in the mining industry, and in the 9 years prior to joining RFC Andrew undertook a number of mining engineering roles across a broad range of activities, projects and commodities spanning operational, planning and consulting environments with Macmahon, Rio Tinto, Snowden Mining Consultants and BHP Billiton.
